Colkirk Arts Festival – 11th-12th May 2019

Colkirk Arts Festival
St. Mary’s Church, Colkirk.  NR21 7NR.
Saturday 11th/Sunday 12th May

10 – 5 Saturday / 10 – 4 Sunday

A giant 4 foot spider made by David Rowe, will welcome visitors to the second Colkirk Arts Festival this May. Following the success of last year’s inaugural Angel Festival, the church this year will be decorated with the theme ‘All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small’.

Other displays include a full-size bee hive complete with knitted bees and flower garden;  display of bonsai trees;  crocheted flower obelisk;  ‘bottom of the garden’ a wildlife display made from recycled metal objects;  Charlie the Guinea pig;  butterfly wall-hanging;  an illuminated underwater scene with tropical fish;  stainless steel swan, and two large painted lions to guard the entrance to the church.  Vote for your favourite display with your lose change.

As well as over 100 hundred paintings in the art exhibition, there will be a display of pottery made by Richard Hirst.  All paintings, pottery and sculptures are original, unique, sensibly priced ………… and for sale – all proceeds from sales will go towards floor repairs in the Lady Chapel.

Poppy is a knitted penguin who lives in the Wisteria Tea Rooms in Fakenham.  She is famous for her many travels, frequently accompanying customers on their holidays. Colkirk has always been on her bucket list, so in May she is going to be joining us for our festival …………but will you be able to spot her?  She will be hidden somewhere in the church and the first person to find her will win tea/coffee and cake for two at the Wisteria Tea Rooms courtesy of Samantha and Kirsten, bakers of the best apple and cinnamon scones ever.

Last year the flower arranging ladies made some stunning flower arrangements, and they’ve promised to do us proud again this year.

Christmas lights throughout the church will give a welcoming touch, especially for children, who’s competition this year is to make a miniature garden no bigger than 12”x12”.

Refreshments will be available throughout the weekend.

Revd Robin Stapleford will close the festival with a service at 4.00pm Sunday.
