Jamie Bull currently runs his Fresh Fish stall from his van on the far side of the market area in front of Argos, on the edge of White Horse Street.

Where are you from? Lowestoft

How long have you been at Fakenham Market? About 2 years.

What are your opening times here? 8am – 12.45pm

What other markets do you attend? I don’t actually attend other markets but do delivery rounds in Suffolk villages on other days.

What led you to running this stall? I took over the business from Neil Cook who was here for about 6 years, following on from his father who ran this stall for 35 years. I was a close friend of the family and the opportunity came along at time of life when I felt the need for a change.

What do you like about coming to Fakenham Market? I have very friendly regular customers and new customers are always polite

What do you sell ? I sell mainly wet fish ; Cod, Haddock , plaice, skate, salmon, trout, sea bass, tuna, lemon sole , Dover sole, hake, halibut, swordfish, monk fish, mackerel, smoked haddock, hot roast salmon, kippers. Also some shellfish – crabs, prawns, cockles.

If I get asked for anything else I will always try to get them what they want where possible.

Weston’s Seafoods

weston-seafoodWillie Weston’s Seafoods stall is to be found in the Upper Market, just outside the Bistro.

Where are you from?
Blakeney where I have my own fish shop.

How long have you been at Fakenham Market?
Since November 2015 when I took over this spot on the retirement of Mr and Mrs Earl who ran a successful fish stall here since the 1960’s.

What are your opening times here?
6.15am – 3pm.

What other markets do you attend?
Creake Abbey and North Elmham market which is weekly on Mondays 9-12pm, plus the monthly Fakenham Farmers’ Market.

What led you to running this stall?
I have been a fisherman since I was 14 and am now nearly 60, so it has been my whole life.

What do you like about coming to Fakenham Market?
Absolutely brilliant people – they are so friendly. The Earls did a very good job before me, and the stall holders and customers have made me really welcome. I love the eclectic mix of stalls, the interesting mix of visitors and regular customers. There’s a really nice camaraderie on the market.

What are your best selling items?
Crabs, and ready made meals, fish pies, fish cakes, fish pat├ęs and a full range of seafood and fresh fish.
